JHMR – Snow Stake Webcam
The snow stake camera at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is the most utilitarian feed on the mountain. It is a simple camera pointed at a graduated stake in the snow, and it tells you exactly how many inches of fresh snow have fallen since the last measurement. Powder hounds check this every morning.
I have been checking snow stakes since before most people knew what a webcam was. This is the honest number. Not the marketing number, not the forecast, the actual snow depth on the ground right now. If the stake shows 12 inches of new snow overnight, you set your alarm early. If it shows 2 inches, you sleep in. It is that simple.
Local tip: JHMR's base elevation is 6,311 feet and the summit is 10,450 feet. The snow stake is at mid-mountain, so the actual depth at the summit is typically deeper. Multiply what you see here by about 1.3 to estimate summit totals.
